As we heard God say, "Try again," in the beginning of 2019, I had some specific requirements that I told God. I did NOT want to go to anymore special appointments or do any special tests. I was NOT taking any more fertility medicines. I just wanted to make the process as peaceful as possible! That is when I began doing more research. (click 'Read More' to continue...)
Image: My personal OvuSense.
I came across OvuSense on an Instagram ad. During this time, I was starting to check my ovulation using those "pee on a stick" kits you get from your local store. Unfortunately, it never showed when I ovulated. This OvuSense intrigued me more than those wristwatch like ovulation monitors because it spoke on one my issues: low egg reserve. I took about 3 weeks before finally deciding to try OvuSense because I wanted to thoroughly research how this could help me conceive the way we wanted. Plus, I wanted time to pray about it.
Another benefit of the OvuSense is I learned more details about my cycle. I already did well with tracking my cycle. I have been using a calendar and phone app for a few years. However, what I did not know is some women can have a shorter ovulation window than what is normal. I found out this was me! Using OvuSense, I discovered the best window to try to conceive. After reading several of their research articles, I discovered so many different issues we women face trying to conceive. Yet this one simple tool could help with some of the most complex situations.
Once I bought it, I used it at once when I was supposed to. I purposely ordered it so that it could arrive on time per my cycle. That first month revealed so much and helped me understand my personal cycle. It helped me appreciate my uniqueness as well because I no longer was guessing or frustrated about "peeing on sticks" every morning.
So, after explaining things to hubby with screen shots from the app (which was funny in itself...Lol), we decided the second month, we will go for it. And we did! And we conceived! And now we have our 15-month-old son!!
Now, like I mentioned, I already was familiar with my cycle so the OvuSense honestly helped pinpoint the most important thing for conception to happen ovulation.
I feel we were successful with using OvuSense for 3 reasons:
1. We trusted God with our desire. This is first because without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). When I mentioned I prayed, I mean I PRAYED! Before 2019, I had not mentioned the topic of conception to God for 3 years. Why? Because I no longer wanted to handle it. I wanted God to handle it. I just wanted to focus on healing from the tragedy of stillbirth with Charlotte (that occurred in 2013). I had to find my trust in God again so I told Him I would not mention conception until He did. And 3 years later, in 2019, He said to try again.
2. I already been tracking my cycle. I honestly been tracking my cycle since I was in high school. I was always fearful of being somewhere and I would end up having an "accident" (you all know what I mean ladies). As a teenager, it is embarrassing. So, I always tracked my cycle. So, I understood the basic phases and OvuSense helped me confirm those things and more.
3. I did not expect it to happen that soon. We honestly were prepared to go the whole 2019 trying. We were willing to follow God however He led us. So, for some women, it will take a few months. For others, it may just take a couple of months like us.
Since that time of using OvuSense, they have some great updates. Including a way to keep your doctor involved too! When I did get pregnant and I had my first prenatal appointment, I told my OB/GYN about what I used. It was her first-time hearing about it. I told her tell other women; especially those who deal with PCOS and/or low egg reserve. I have told other women about it too because I know the process of trying to conceive can be stressful and overwhelming. I personally feel this helps lessens some of the stress because you are not wondering what is happening with your body. I even read you can use OvuSense while taking fertility medicines to ensure the medicine is doing what it is supposed to do.
I hope this helps another woman considering using something extra to help with conception. I encourage women to also read the research reports about OvuSense which is available on their website. Not all tools have conducted the kind of research that they have. It is quite interesting and encouraging!
Question: Have you heard of OvuSense? If not and you are trying to conceive, what other tools have you researched to help you? Share your comments below as I would love to hear from you!
I desire to help encourage and support women during their time of trying to conceive and if they experience the tragedy of stillbirth. When I experienced stillbirth, the best advice I received: Be Human. I hope to help Christian women recognize the importance of being human in order to process our emotions. When we admit we are weak, God is able to be faithful and be God. If we be human, then God can be God.
